The reason why the @GreensEFA requested this hearing was to hold Schmidt publicly to account towards BiH citizens, as he has been hiding from public explanation of his highly divisive 2 Oct decisions.

Closed door meetings are in no way a substitute for democratic accountability.

Small correction. Mr. Schmidt was summoned to explain in AFET why he imposed amendments to the electoral law in BiH, favouring the Croats, at the moment citizens where voting. Why did the chair decide to hold this hearing in camera? Schmidt should give account to the Bosnians.

Despite that "RS Day" has been deemed illegal by BiH's constitutional court, Dodik uses this year's edition to glorify Russia's war crimes by awarding a medal of honor to Putin.

I fully subscribe to this call by my colleagues. The silence from the EU so far is striking.

Today a ruling from 🇧🇦 constitutional court is expected. The 🇪🇺 Parliament’s AFET-Committee voted that the OHR’s recent reforms risk undermining democratic legitimacy and consolidating ethnic-nationalism.

#BiH future is democratic, built on equality, and squarely within the 🇪🇺

Just confirmed: @OHR_BiH will come to the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee on 30 November.

I will repeat my call on him to retract his electoral law changes.

Any changes to BiH's electoral system need to abolish discrimination, not further entrench it.

With more 🗳 results in, my disbelief of the @OHR_BiH’s decision upon the closing of the polls has only grown. While citizens of 🇧🇦 overwhelmingly chose a civic BiH and pro 🇪🇺 reform, OHR-imposed decisions cement ethnic nationalism. A slap in the face of democracy itself.

I fully support the @OHR_BiH proposal to prevent fraud during BiH's upcoming elections and ensure state functionality after. However, the proposed electoral law changes should not be part of this package. They will deepen ethnic segregation and electoral discrimination. (1/3)

The EU has annulled 125 million of funding to BiH because the government failed to fulfill Rule of Law and democracy conditions. Sadly, this is the right step. Clear communication by the EU is however key. Citizens have the right to know which politicians are to blame for this.

I am grateful for the exchange with the citizens' assembly, which put forward fresh and concrete proposals for the democratization of BiH's institutional structures. This proves that the citizens dó want change. It is key to amplify their voice through free and fair elections.

During our meeting with the BiH presidency, we expressed full support to BiH's EU future. But we also told Mr Dodik very clearly that he cannot continue his secessionist policies, actively support Putin's war in Ukraine while at the same time advancing on the EU path.

Come up with a coordinated response, impose sanctions against Dodik and fully support reinstating peace and a solid democracy. (3/3)

+1Together with MEPs of the four largest political groups in the EP, I sent a letter to EU Ministers following last weeks disappointing Foreign Affairs Council, calling on the EU to sanction Dodik. The EU has the obligation to firmly protect Dayton and BiH's territorial integrity.
