Happy Independence Day to my dear friends in Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦

My greatest respect for all those who fight for BiH’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Then and now. Against all odds.

The European Parliament will always be on your side.

@EP_Justice Nasiri: "I heard that one of my friends killed himself by throwing himself into a river in Bosnia. He was only 15 years old. Another close friend committed suicide in BE due to stress. Like them, there are many other children on the move in distress, while one needs protection."

I thought: now my new life can start; I can finally go to school or have some rest. I could become a child again.

How wrong I was about that..”

I warmly welcome the results of yesterday’s elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It looks like many citizens rejected the ethno-nationalist corrupted politics of the past, and show to be in favour of EU integration. The EU should grasp this momentum to help the country forward.

Regretfully, the Council fell for Orbán's pressure last week, making it de facto impossible to impose sanctions against actors threatening the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, thereby deviating from its own guidelines. We ask @JosepBorrellF for an explanation 👇
