There is EU competence & we are working with the right legal base.

The way is now clear for the European #minimumwage directive. The EP's legal service also has validated the legal basis chosen by the European Commission, after the Council's legal service. Vote on 25 October in EMPL if all goes well. #SocialEurope

Voor álle werknemers in Europa is bescherming nodig, zodat niemand onder de armoedegrens zakt.
Wij willen de gelijke behandeling van werknemers: minimumlonen in Europa mogen niet discrimineren op je leeftijd of je beperking.

President Biden begrijpt dat een land draait op een stevige middenklasse, die ondersteund wordt door sterke vakbonden.
Ook hier kunnen we de scheefgroei en tweedeling tegengaan. Daarom werk ik aan wetgeving voor eerlijke minimumlonen in Nederland en heel Europa!

In Nederland en in de meeste andere Europese landen steeds minder werknemers beschermd worden door een cao?
Die trend moeten we keren!

Hoe hard je ook werkt, voor steeds meer mensen is het lastig om de eindjes aan elkaar te knopen.
Met hogere minimumlonen in alle Europese landen creëren we een gelijk speelveld & vooruitgang voor iedereen!

Ook geen applaus van #FVD voor #EUMinimumWages. Dit zal leiden tot een kader dat uitblinkt in vaagheid en complexiteit.
Er zijn duidelijke afspraken vastgelegd in de verdragen over dit punt en nu probeert de #EU het via de achterdeur.

Europe is taking a new road. The paradigm is moving away from competition on wages towards social upward convergence.
This directive, proposed by @NicolasSchmitEU, is setting criteria that statutory minimum wages must deliver upon.
