Geweld tegen vrouwen en meisjes is een van de hardnekkigste mensenrechtenschendingen vandaag de dag. Het is onaanvaardbaar dat nog niet alle lidstaten de Istanbul Conventie geratificeerd hebben.

Het Verdrag van Istanbul viert zijn tiende verjaardag, maar veel is er niet te vieren. Het recente besluit van de Turkse regering om zich uit het verdrag terug te trekken, baart ernstige zorgen. #IstanbulConvention

Overal ter wereld zien we pogingen om de rechten en onafhankelijkheid van vrouwen te onderdrukken. De geloofwaardigheid van de EU staat op het spel. Europa moet opkomen voor de bescherming van vrouwen. Lees hier mijn opinie👇🏽

Withdrawal from the #IstanbulConvention by #Poland increases the already urgent need to ensure that funding flowing from the Covid-19 recovery fund and MFF will be linked to the full respect of our common values through an effective conditionality mechanism.

The #IstanbulConvention is not only being blocked now by some member states but also extremely undermined. This is disrespectful and it violates women’s rights. This latest development shows we can never take women’s rights for granted. It has to stop 🛑
