@TomWlost The market has been flooded by free allowances the last 15 years!! Clearly there are company that invested in new technology and those that didn’t. The latter want to get free allowances until the end of time. We want stimulate and help companies that invest in decarbonisation.

Very good meeting with Ambassador Dr. Ming-Yen Tsai of #Taiwan. We spoke about Ukraine, China, Covid, WHO and cooperation of democratic countries on technology, health care and supply chain management. Important to strengthen cooperation within the entire free, democratic world.

@digint31 That is a problem, true. According to Berkeley University currently some 90% of research budgets is invested in deep fake technology, only 10% in detection. I believe a best efforts obligation will force platforms to invest more in detection

@limwierde @JustinPijl @gertjansegers De EVP wijst er vooral op dat je er met het vrijgeven van het patent niet bent. Je hebt vooral een ‘technology transfer’ nodig zodat andere bedrijven het niet alleen MOGEN maar ook KUNNEN maken.

Today, the Council and the EP reached an agreement on the future of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. The changes will cut bureaucracy around grant applications, and give the EIT’s eight KICs more leeway in how they spend their funds.

We also need to prevent terrorists from using technology to spread their sinister messages online to radicalise others or incite violence by ensuring social media or messaging platforms quickly detect and delete terrorist content online.

The @EPPGroup supports increased #security cooperation, better information sharing between police, judicial authorities and EU agencies, and vital support for victims. We must fully utilise existing legal, judicial powers to combat such crimes, respecting fundamental rights

Technology is amazing. But it has downsides too. Too many big tech companies get away with not paying enough taxes. Member States don’t have the power to stop them alone. Europe needs to play a role here.
