Thanks to all the people in Hungary who shared their experiences and insights. You all made clear how deeply cemented the rule of law crisis is, how harmful the slow response from the EU has been and how urgently needed it is to start cutting the EU funds.

Yes, there was plenty in the goodie bag, but what really counts is delivering on the relevant issues. The rule of law crisis is eating away the very foundations of the EU, but Commission and Council are avoiding the topic like the plague.

In @Europarl_NL spreken we met @Hanna_Machinska over de verschrikkelijke humanitaire situatie van migranten in Polen en aan grens met Belarus. De crisis is enorm maar er is nog steeds geen toegang tot het grensgebied en de autoriteiten schenden nationaal recht en 🇪🇺grondrechten.

@BoyZuidoost @fuckroeper @op1npo @GezaWeisz Nee ik vind het echt wel een goed punt. Specialisatie heeft een prijs en brengt risico’s. met zich mee. Als meer ziekenhuispersoneel een IC-training krijgt kan er in tijden van crisis worden geschoven. Combineer het met een beetje extra capaciteit om ziekteverzuim tegen te gaan.

If member states no longer accept the primacy of EU law and the authority of its highest court, the EU is effectively disintegrating. There is a full blown rule of law crisis, yet the #EUCO continues to duck the issue. It should be on top of the agenda @eucopresident

Since Lukashenko started instrumentalising migrants, the EU itself frames migration merely as security threat. Proposed adaptations to Schengen reaffirm this.

A geopolitical crisis needs a geopolitical solution. Not legalising pushbacks and tearing down rights of people in need.

De ene crisis is nog gaande en de andere kondigt zich alvast aan. Dit betekent nog meer IC-bedden nog meer zorgkosten. Toch willen we het hier niet over hebben. Het debat is giftig en de logica is zoek.

Calais, Belarus, the Mediterranean; as long as government leaders refuse to take a decision on a common European asylum and migration package, we keep having these crises.

With clear rules and capacity, we would be able to manage well and not roll from one crisis to the next.

The @etuc_ces calls on the @EU_Commission to ban bogus self-employment.

As platform workers are often misclassified as self-employed, they have no protection in times of crisis & have to shoulder all the risks. This must change!

De Europese Commissie komt met noodwetgeving in reactie op de crisis aan de grens met Belarus.
Deze wetgeving zou erop gericht moeten zijn dat mensen asiel kunnen aanvragen zonder op illegale wijze te worden uitgezet, zoals nu gebeurt.

Het werd me nog duidelijker hoe gevaarlijk deze crisis is. Er leeft onder de bevolking een enorme angst dat het land teruggestort wordt in een gewelddadig conflict.

Men lieten weten dat EU- steun hard nodig is om van B-H een democratisch en geïntegreerd land te maken. (2/4)

Afgelopen weekend bezocht ik Bosnië-Herzegovina nav de politieke crisis veroorzaakt door de afscheidingsplannen van Dodik, leider Servische nationalisten. Ik sprak activisten, oppositiepolitici en EU-ambassadeurs.

De EU en VS onderhandelen nu over een deal waarin ze toe lijken te geven aan enkele eisen van Dodik en de Kroaten om de situatie te kalmeren. Het risico is groot dat een compromis de etnische verdeling in het land verankeren en zo de politieke crisis alleen maar vergroot. (4/6)

Er is een politieke crisis gaande in Bosnië en Herzegovina die dreigt te escaleren.
Ik ben in Sarajevo om te spreken met betrokkenen en om op te roepen om de inwoners perspectief te bieden op een inclusieve samenleving en toenadering tot de EU.

De zevenentwintig regeringsleiders van de EU-landen buitelen over elkaar om te reageren op de crisis aan de EU-grens met Belarus. Zolang we geen werkend, gezamenlijk asiel- en migratiebeleid hebben zullen we bespeeld blijven worden door dictators in onze regio.

@FranckenTheo @groenlinks @deafspraaktv De praktijk aan de grens met Belarus is dat er geen toegang is tot asiel waardoor al 10 mensen zijn overleden in niemandsland.

Met pushbacks los je deze geopolitieke crisis niet op, sancties voor Loekasjenko kunnen dat wel.
