I am under no illusions. Sanctions do not stop Putin’s bombs, tanks & paratroopers. The 🇺🇦 people need military support. They need air defence systems and ammunition. Immediately. We should not be shy to use the European Peace Facility. Today Ukraine is defending us. (5/x)

Putin is trampling every imaginable international law. Beginning with the UN Charter and the Geneva Conventions. We must isolate Russia completely in all international platforms. Russia’s expulsion from the Council of Europe is a first step we applaud. (6/x)

But truly ashamed about the decisions taken last night by the @EUCouncil I call on all member states to rethink quickly and step up our game. We will not get a 2nd chance to do it right.

Deeply embarrassing and worrying that HDZ leader Dragan Covic is unable to clearly condemn Putin’s aggression. Anyone issuing these kind of ambiguous statements at this moment of time is evidently not interested in democracy, international law and European security.

This Russian owned yacht named "Ragnar", was ransacked by the Norwegian Coast Guard, Police and Customs earlier today.
It's owned by former KGB officier Vladimir Strzhalkovsky ; who is an old friend of Vladimir Putin.
It looks like a boat used for cutting fiber cables. 1/3

@nillfour @derksauer Ja dat is zeer waarschijnlijk maar ik hoor ook geluiden dat veel Russen achter Putin staan. Ik keur de acties van Putin af. Ik begrijp wel dat de uitbreidingsgeruchten mbt NAVO/Oekraïne te veel en te vroeg waren cq zijn voor velen.

2) Stevige sancties moeten nu de agenda van Putin verder dwarsbomen. Hier in Litouwen leerde ik o.a. dat we in Brussel scherper moeten zijn op onderdelen voor materieel onderhoud voor het Russische leger. Westerse bedrijven mogen die niet leveren. Hoogtechnologische sancties dus

Donetsk and Luhansk are integral parts of Ukraine. They are not Putin’s to ‘recognise’. Recognition would be a violation of international law and 🇺🇦 territorial integrity. If Russia recognizes, joint transatlantic sanctions should be imposed immediately. #UnitedWithUkraine
