Today the @Europarl_NL has officially adopted my report on #CBAM. 🤩
It hasn’t been an easy ride, but I’m happy with this result and ready to start negotiating with the Council.

Today, the Social Climate Fund report was adopted in Plenary. Together with co-rapporteur @DavidCasaMEP we have ensured that the energy transition will succeed for every European, not only the happy few.

Slecht nieuws en goed nieuws! Drie “fit for 55” wetten zijn vandaag in het EP goedgekeurd. Gevolg: nog hogere energieprijzen en dus hogere prijzen van alles. 1 lichtpuntje 10% van de ETS-opbrengsten gaan naar ov rail infrastructuur. Daar hebben we tenminste wat aan!

@SLVK5 @ajboekestijn Dan moet daar aan gewerkt worden. Alles is te meten, daar kan je afspraken over maken. Dan kunnen harde criteria worden ingevoerd.

@ajboekestijn Als de EU zich zelf serieus neemt kan het Bulgarije echt wel zo ver krijgen dat het het veto intrekt. De overbevolking in de wachtkamer begint is onacceptabel.Wordt tijd dat als objectief criteria zijn gehaald,een kandidaat- lidstaat gewoon lid wordt, zonder stemming in de Raad.

Deze week komt de @EU_Commission met nieuwe regels om sancties op te leggen aan handelspartners die afspraken over #arbeidsrechten en #klimaatverandering aan hun laars lappen. Goed nieuws voor werknemers en het klimaat!

Want nu we met #India om tafel gaan, is het belangrijk dat we goede afspraken maken. Niet alleen over handelsdoelen, ook over de #werknemer en het #klimaat.
De #EU heeft als grootste handelsblok de macht verandering te eisen in landen als India.

De #EU heeft dit soort akkoorden met vele landen. Ze bepalen de spelregels van de handel en kunnen leiden tot meer productie, welvaart en beter banen. Maar alleen als je het goed doet…
En daar ben ik scherp op.
