Countries like Greece and Italy have developed their own cynical tactics to escape responsibilities through violent #pushbacks and by deliberately eroding reception conditions.

Cyprus acting as the #spyware export hub for Israel, and Greece as its training centre. Surveillance tools sold from Europe to oppressive regimes in gross violation of EU law, but @EU_Commission persists in 🙈🙉🙊. Its inertia amounts to complicity in human rights violations.

Journalists in Greece, especially those reporting on pushbacks and human rights violations, are persistently under threat and attack. This silencing policy has to stop. That is why I call upon the European Commission to undertake action and protect our fundamental freedoms.

Since 8 months, I ask for public access to the OLAF report. After 2 refusals by Frontex, now with OLAF. I just received a reply that they need more time. But now we all know why this transparency is key to hold Frontex and Greece accountable and to stop these blatant violations.

ECtHR ordered the Greek authorities to provide assistance to Syrian refugees stranded on the islet of Evros but instead they pushed them back to Turkey. This blatant violation of international law and disrespect for European courts illustrate the rule of law crisis in Greece.

Tomorrow, 23 people are brought to trial for having rescued and helped migrants left alone by the Greek authorities. @EU_Commission when is your red line crossed, when will you sanction Greece?

1⃣ Employ 40 fundamental rights monitors, who should get full access to assets and information in (joint) operations.

2⃣ Urgently examine the fundamental rights situation of the joint operations in Greece + suspend its return on any operations in Hungary. (2/3)
