Goede stap @EU_Commission! Deze is fundamenteel want gericht op onwettig samengesteld constitutioneel hof. Enige wat helpt is consequent alle #RoL schendingen opvolgen. Dialoog met PiS autocraten zinloos gebleken. #infringement #FreeTheJudges

Today the General Affairs Council will discuss the art7 procedure for Hungary. I was finally granted a meeting with the Romanian presidency this morning and asked about their time table, hearings, plans... but left empty handed. I guess the plan is stalling for time.

Of course the @EUCouncil should have a thorough process on the #ruleoflaw in #Hungary. So did the EP before it voted my #art7 procedure, but Council should keep in mind that the Treaty knows no hierarchy on which institution starts the process, EC op EP. 1/2

Waarna @MinPres Rutte zijn directe steun aan @TimmermansEU #art7 procedure jegens Poolse regering uitspreekt en daar aan toevoegt dat hij ‘weet dat de hele Europese Commissie achter hem staat’ om zo Juncker een signaal te geven. Nice.

Een art7 procedure is geen ‘tick the box’ oefening. Het kost tijd, maar dan is het wel zaak dat t Bulgaars voorzitterschap gaat beginnen aan zn analyse van rechtstaat in Polen.
