@FrMagnin I don’t go for easy labels. EPP is a diverse group where for example the Nordics and Benelux go for more climate ambition. I see a candidate not leaning to them on climate, but leaning to Hungary on rule of law. You can choose that direction but don’t expect my support.

Academic freedom under threat in Europe? Orbán may get control over Academy of Sciences through controversial new law.

What will @EU_Commission do to guarantee the academic freedom in Hungary?

Counter arguments:
1. Political appointments of judges. Members of EU Court of Justice are politically appointed too.
2. Electoral system. UK’s first past the post system: minority may gain majority of seats.
3. Media concentration: in many EU countries.
Why single out Hungary?

Salaries are too low in Hungary. The people at the top are doing well but ordinary workers are not doing well: teachers, railway workers, factory workers all need a pay rise, with the help of the trade unions.

And I saw on my last visit to Budapest how important it is to strengthen the position of the trade unions, so they can defend workers’ rights, in Hungary and across Europe.

We have our own answers to the challenges people are facing in Europe.
#ItsTime that companies making big profits in Europe pay fair taxes here.
We need a fair minimum wage in every member state of the European Union.
We need to put an end to the pay gap between women and men.

Fidesz and Orban are taking Hungary away from the centre of Europe, mentally and politically. The next step will be to take you away economically and socially. We will not let that happen! Hungarians belong in the heart of Europe!

Hungary, Czechia, Austria - and counting - all decided to withdraw from the UN negotiation for the Migration Compact, illustrating a complete misunderstanding of the process. This is not a treaty to facilitate migration, it merely tries to harmonise concepts of migration.
