Deal on ETS and Social Climate Fund. As always fighting for more climate ambition against many reluctant member states (remember their COP speeches?). And a Social Climate Fund is there but this is really only a small start to ensure socially just climate action.

With this vote, @EP_Industry shows its ambition. It increased the goal of the overall share of renewable energy by 2030, from 40% in the original proposal, to 45 %🙌
This puts us on the right path to a sustainable society🌱

Ministerial deal on Fit for 55. Ambition level kept (thank you German Greens for the cars). But really everywhere built-in reviews, flexibilities, gifts in funds, longer free allowances etc. In further negotiations the European Parliament has to close quite some loopholes again…

What about for example Turkey's new climate ambition during COP26? no possible link with CBAM?

Indirect emissions, such as emissions from electricity, should also be covered by CBAM after the pilot phase.

This is extremely important to heighten the climate ambition of this proposal. 🌎

@trouwschmidt @HuubBellemakers Ik ook. Wat ons weer terugbrengt naar mijn eerste antwoord;-) Helaas de 6 jaar erna te weinig vooruitgang. Grote sprong komt ook niet dit jaar. High Ambition Coalition functioneert slecht deze COP. Daar was ik positief over Canete hoe hij dat deed.

Timmermans on Dutch radio: 55% CO2 reduction in 2030 is incredibly ambitious but possible; more than that would be “too much to ask” and not feasible. Are the Greens, his own S&D and Liberals listening? @EPPGroup will continue to support the ambition and realism of the Commission

.@TimmermansEU is clearly committed. He will deliver higher ambition next year, but he asks for much analysis before to commit to -55%. What the Climate Law will do in the first 100 days remains unclear. More from the Commission’s own Long-term Strategy should be used.

@FrMagnin I don’t go for easy labels. EPP is a diverse group where for example the Nordics and Benelux go for more climate ambition. I see a candidate not leaning to them on climate, but leaning to Hungary on rule of law. You can choose that direction but don’t expect my support.

@florianeder I don’t expect that. But i expect reasons to vote for her. Where do you see reasons to vote for her from a Green perspective? In most issues she will look into it. On climate she wants us to lower ambition. Even on rule of law, she refuses to answer on Fidesz.

Until now @vonderleyen is very disappointing. Lowering the climate ambition compared to previous EP, vague on air quality and agriculture, trade could be different but not clear how and now evasive on economic governance. On top no comment on Selmayr....

@Panachevert @europeangreens @SkaKeller @GreensEP @Greenpeace That document is from the Council (member states). Indeed very weak on climate. Parliamentary negotiations only started yesterday. Greens will push for more ambition on climate (otherwise we won’t be part of the deal). We keep you posted; now too early to tell!

Last part of the text is in. Difficult rulebook issues on market mechanisms (Article 6) are postponed till next year. So higher ambition level moves to September 2019; Rulebook leftovers to November 2019. Katowice deliveries disappointing. May the plenary begin.
