We @GreensEFA , together with other groups in the European Parliament, are calling on the European Commission not to approve the Hungarian recovery plan, until Hungary respects the Rule of Law.

Proud to be from the Benelux. Finally Member States are now speaking out explicitly. Developments in Hungary are threatening the European Union more than Greece 10 years ago, and countries like Germany were not holding back by then at all.

This means that children cannot be taught different forms of sexuality or LGBTIQ-equality as this will be considered ‘paedophilia’.

And not the only anti-LGBTIQ law: in Hungary it is illegal to change your gender & same-sex couples are not allowed to adopt. (2/3)

#CJEU dismissed #Hungary's claim that @Europarl_EN triggered #Article7 with procedural irregularities against the country.
The #Article7 procedure against #Hungary is legal and valid, even if it is not going anywhere.

The backsliding media freedom in Poland, Hungary and Slovenia cannot remain unpunished. The European Commission needs to adress the hostile environment for journalists in these EU countries. Without free media, a real democracy simply cannot function.

The European Union is failing to protect citizens' rights in countries as Hungary and Poland. That is why we need a mechanism to link EU budget to the rule of law. In my contribution to the plenary debate I urged the @EU_Commission to take on its role as guardian of our treaties.

Crystal clear judgement: Hungary broke EU law by detaining asylum seekers in transit zones and blocking access to asylum. It once again shows that Orban doesn’t care about human rights and the Rule of Law. It also sets red lines for the upcoming Migration Pact negotiations.

These are two countries under Art.7 procedure due to their dismal RoL record. Had Council moved earlier, 🇭🇺 +🇵🇱 would have no voting rights!

I wonder if Orbán’s Fidesz MEPs will soon be sitting at the far right side of the hemicycle. Where they belong.

Briefing by the Helsinki Committee on the rule of law situation in Hungary. Sad to hear many new stories of grave intimidations of judges and opposition parties and grave harassments of asylum seekers. More action from both the EU Council and Commission is urgently needed.
