Online haat vormt een bedreiging voor onze democratie.
Dit gaat niet om een nare opmerking, maar om gecoördineerde aanvallen op vrouwen door trollenlegers uit de extreemrechtse hoek.
De algoritmen van sociale media zwengelen deze golven van haat aan voor meer clicks en winst.

Now, their people suffer from food shortages and power outages.

@ZilteBotte Intuïtie: de antenne die op waarde moet worden geschat. Wat is er aan de hand? Er zijn, mede door internet heel veel data en gegevens beschikbaar. Het vermogen om daar nuttige info van te bakken is minder wijdverbreid. We weten nog erg weinig. En te weinig zijn zich dat bewust.

@analons Ik vrees van wel. Men scheldt vaak op de parlementariërs maar de echte grootverdieners zitten bij de ambtelijke staf, leden van de Commissie en het Europese Hof. Op internet kun je zien wat een rechter bij het Europees Gerechtshof verdient. nationaleberoepengids.nl/rechter-bij-he….

Aan sterke internetregels heb je niets zonder sterk toezicht.
Goed nieuws dat op mijn initiatief Big Tech straks meebetaalt aan hun eigen toezicht.
Zo draait de belastingbetaler er niet voor op en kunnen we het internet echt democratisch en veilig houden.

Na twintig jaar komen er strengere internetregels die de macht van techgiganten, zoals Facebook, inperkt!
Een grote stap om het internet weer vrij, democratisch en veilig te maken. Maar ik blijf strijden voor fundamentele veranderingen.

Het publieke debat speelt zich grotendeels af op internet. Alle uitspraken die offline onder de vrijheid v meningsuiting vallen, zouden ook door Big Tech niet gecensureerd mogen worden!

The Internet is a network of interconnected networks. AS-numbers, domain names and IP-blocks are used by hospitals, banks, universities, companies and citizens irrespective of borders. We have no way of knowing whether we might break services in EU, Caucasus etc

This Russian owned yacht named "Ragnar", was ransacked by the Norwegian Coast Guard, Police and Customs earlier today.
It's owned by former KGB officier Vladimir Strzhalkovsky ; who is an old friend of Vladimir Putin.

Het kan inderdaad handig zijn om zo'n ID te hebben als je bijvoorbeeld naar een andere lidstaat verhuist, maar voor gebruik van het internet zou je dat niet nodig hoeven hebben, dus daar zitten we met @GreensEFA bovenop.

In België melden mensen verdachte mails en sms’jes bij hun cyber security centrum. Die stuurt kwaadaardige domeinen door naar internet service providers, waardoor elke dag 25.000 andere ontvangers van phishing eerst een waarschuwing krijgen voordat ze klikken. #goedidee

We moeten de macht van grote techbedrijven als Facebook en Google inperken zodat we echt iets te kiezen hebben op het internet en niet overgeleverd zijn een handjevol techreuzen. Morgenochtend stemt de interne markt commissie van het Europees Parlement hierover. Mijn inzet: (1/4)
