Important: Dutch government tells the Dutch parliament that they do not support gas in the taxonomy. Good countries start speaking out against this dirty coalition of France and the Visegrad countries.

In Glasgow the world agreed to phasing out fossil fuel subsidies. Big win, redirecting our financial flows is crucial.

But Europe’s big test is still ahead. If gas-investments are categorised green, a truly green European energy structure will not be in the cards. #taxonomy

#NuclearEnergy is the only right way to phase out fossil fuel.
Let's save our nature. No #biomass, no wind turbines and solar panels only on our roof.

Green investors are against including gas and nuclear in EU green finance standard. Failure to follow the high standards the market expects, means taxonomy will be dead on arrival.

European Union losing its credibility if France gets its way on taxonomy. What a disgrace: The EU will likely face investor backlash if it includes natural gas and nuclear energy in its green rulebook bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Committing to climate neutrality by 2050 is good, but not enough.

We have to make strong commitments to reduce emissions by 2030.

We need real action during this decade.

And we need to agree on a robust framework of rules, to make global carbon markets a reality.

Forgetting Article 2.1(c) of the Paris Agreement, where parties have promised to align their financial flows with climate targets. Logical, if you are planning to promote gas investments in the taxonomy...

citeert avatar

Ursula von der Leyen do 28 okt 2021, 16:09

This @COP26 will rest on three pillars.

First, the ambition to stay well below 2°C and close to 1.5°C of warming.

Second, climate finance. We need to deliver the $100 billion we promised to developing countries.

Third pillar: a rulebook on international carbon markets.

The #EU has created their own problems and own shortage by closing reliable energy sources like nuclear- and coal power plants and reduce gaswinning. And all because of the subsidies for the #unreliables (solar and wind). Wrong investment.

Time to adopt #nuclear in the #taxonomy

Energy prices are rising globally.

Gas prices almost doubled compared to 2020 and producers are not increasing supplies sufficiently, despite rising demand.

But renewables prices have remained stable.

#EUGreenDeal and renewables are the solution to rising electricity prices

Proposed EU rules seek to address exactly this: create a "taxonomy" of what is green and what isn't. To be environmentally sustainable, investments need to benefit our environment, without doing harm to for example biodiversity or the circular economy. 4/
