@lientje1967 Voor een klein land is het instemmen met EU-regels een hoog risico activiteit. Duitsland en Frankrijk “repareren” achteraf EU-wetgeving die hen niet uitkomt. Voor NL is dat wat moeilijker. Maar het kan wel. Misschien bij Orban op cursus? Die komt niet tevergeefs in opstand.

Bad decision. Tech platforms have a responsibility to respect human rights, with horrific effects when they fail to do so. Twitter will have to play by EU rules, and on Monday I’ll be proposing tech as a high-risk sector in upcoming EU Human Rights #duediligence legislation.

Yesterday was my last day at Twitter: the entire Human Rights team has been cut from the company.
I am enormously proud of the work we did to implement the UN Guiding Principles on Business & Human Rights, to protect those at-risk in global conflicts & crises including Ethiopia,

In meeting with Swiss parliament @ParlCH, it was great to hear they're already finalising implementation of global min tax of 15%. Nice to see 🇨🇭 is taking lead on tax reforms. Hope that parliament and cantons can cooperate to get the deal through!

Democracy is in danger in its cradle.
The Greek government's spyware surveillance of journalists and opposition leaders like @androulakisnick is completely unacceptable and undermines trust in democratic institutions.
We demand full transparency from the Greek government.

Regarding the scope, it is imperative that the financial sector is included and the tourism and hospitality sector is explicitly involved. The latter is especially relevant for the impact of company activities in our OCTs.

My draft opinion on #CSDD is all about meaningful engagement from companies - of all sizes, with a broadened scope - to take responsibility for the adverse impacts in their value chains. Environmental, human, and always with a gender-sensitive approach.

National elections are European elections. The outcomes determine who sits on the EU Council. They have to be 100% fair and honest, and the European Parliament should have the means to investigate doubts.

The use of spyware is a criminal offence that cannot go without consequences. One would therefore expect that the authorities would investigate the use of such tools on their soil thoroughly. Such an investigation seems not te be underway.

One way to know for sure is if we could have look at the files of the Greek National Intelligence Service (EYP), but the relevant files have very unfortunately accidentally been destroyed.

As long as Greek authorities are not willing to share official records and documents, we have to build a puzzle with the pieces available. Luckily there are many pieces to work with.
