I am deeply impressed with the calm heroism of the Ukrainian people. President @ZelenskyyUa’s leadership is a shining beacon of hope amid Russia’s atrocious war. Kyiv is defending fiercely against far superior weapons. Ukraine is upholding international law. (7/x)

Putin is trampling every imaginable international law. Beginning with the UN Charter and the Geneva Conventions. We must isolate Russia completely in all international platforms. Russia’s expulsion from the Council of Europe is a first step we applaud. (6/x)

I am under no illusions. Sanctions do not stop Putin’s bombs, tanks & paratroopers. The 🇺🇦 people need military support. They need air defence systems and ammunition. Immediately. We should not be shy to use the European Peace Facility. Today Ukraine is defending us. (5/x)

We need full isolation of Russia including a full trade ban. Cut Russia off from SWIFT now! Hit Putin’s entire corrupt system. And yes, that will create discomfort and cause problems for ourselves. Freedom is not free. But united we are strong. We’ll stand in solidarity. (4/x)
