Another important step is taken towards adequate minimum wage protection for workers in Europe, at COREPER today.
Good that Council took this step.
Now it is up to us in the EP to vote in favour of minimum wages tomorrow too!
It can be done!

In the meantime, Coreper has just given its green light to the Slovenian proposal on the minimum wages directive. Only DK voted against. So, a general approach is in view for December at the EPSCO Council. And then trilogues may start under "PFUE" #SocialEurope #Minimumwage

Aan de slag met verduurzaming van de scheepvaart (Fuel EU Maritime wetgeving). Vandaag de eerste kennismaking met @jorgenwarborn (EPP). Dit stond in het teken van inhoudelijke prioriteiten kenbaar maken en elkaar natuurlijk ook een beetje leren kennen.

Vandaag sprak ik de Belarussische oppositieleidster @Tsihanouskaya. Zij deed een dringende oproep aan de EU om harder in te grijpen tegen Loekasjenko. Hij zal tot het uiterste gaan om zijn macht te behouden.
Ik sta vierkant achter de Wit-Russen in hun strijd naar vrijheid!

1/ Most importantly, the text says that the fiscal rules can be "developed further" to reach three goals: Secure growth, safeguard debt sustainability and foster green investment. They should also become "simpler and more transparent, also to strengthen implementation".

Apparently Parliament has written a rule which means I can’t take my well behaved, 3-month old, sleeping baby when I speak in chamber. (Still no rule on wearing masks btw).
Mothers in the mother of all parliament are not to be seen or heard it seems….

Meer drama in Zweden. De Zweedse Groenen zijn uit de coalitie gestapt omdat de minderheidsregering een rechtse begroting moet uitvoeren. Nu is er dus een minderheidsregering van alleen sociaal-democraten met wisselende meerderheden.

Great news! The EU is going to allocate 1 million euros to the mapping of homelessness in Europe.
Important, because we need this knowledge to be able to propose the policies needed to end homelessness before 2030.

Goed nieuws! De EU maakt op mijn initiatief geld vrij om dakloosheid beter in kaart te brengen in Europa.
Op basis daarvan kunnen we beter de oorzaken aanpakken en voor 2030 een einde aan dakloosheid te maken.

Vielleicht sollten wir dan zunächst “Föderalismus” definieren. Jedenfalls, wenn es um die EU geht, sollten wir dringlich die parlamentarische Demokratie stärken.

@grimmse @SophieintVeld Föderalismus ist per se apolitisch. Es geht ja vor allem und die Organisation eines politischen Ensembles ... Und ja. dafür spricht vieles. Céline Spector fasst das relativ gut zusammen in "no demos?"

@SophieintVeld Der Lissabon-Vertrag war das Äußerste, was man von der Verfassung für Europa noch retten konnte - und auch nur, indem man die Iren bestach und eine der besten Ideen, nämlich die Verkleinerung der Kommission, über Bord warf. Ich finde die EU toll - darum bin ich so besorgt.

Ich bin überzeugt dass das rein zwischenstaatliche (intergovernmental) Europa keine Zukunft hat.

Ja und nein. Die Schwierigkeiten gehen über das Institutionelle hinaus, aber die Art und Weise wie wir die Demokratie organisiert, eingerichtet haben, spielt eine große Rolle (meine Gedanken dazu: issuu.com/scentofwildani…)
