The Polish government will dismantle the disciplinary chamber anyway, but will intensify the silencing of independent judges. So no RRF-funds and swift activation of the #RuleOfLaw conditionality mechanism and continuous and persistent scrutiny. (2/2)

Clear commitments are not enough anymore I’m afraid, pres. @vonderleyen We need full restoration of independent judiciary. This is not a controversial disciplinary chamber, it is an illegal court and the 🇵🇱 government already said they will abolish it. So no bargaining ⤵️ (1/2)

Gemeentes en provincies zijn helemaal klaar met de houding van het kabinet. Ze vinden dat het kabinet veel te weinig doet en treuzelt met het indienen van plannen voor dat Europese Corona Herstelfonds. bnr.nl/nieuws/politie…

The EU may be a “sui generis” entity, but democratic principles like the separation of powers, accountability, and checks and balances should apply to the whole of the EU itself.

We moeten oneerlijke concurrentie met China aanpakken en het is cruciaal dat regels uit Brussel echt uitvoerbaar zijn. Daarover spraken we vandaag met 11 ondernemers in het #Ondernemershuis met @VVD Europarlementariër @LSchreinemacher, die hier volop mee bezig is.

In 2019 @Europarl_EN gave @vonderleyen its confidence vote, on the basis of her commitments. A vote of confidence is no blank check for five years. Therefore I propose a special mid-term scrutiny session & resolution on the performance of the Commission.

We moeten ons realiseren dat het Corona "Herstel"fonds een sigaar uit eigen doos is. Nederland heeft het geld niet nodig. We kunnen desnoods gunstig lenen op de kapitaalmarkt, ZONDER voorwaarden. Herstelfonds was gewoon een cadeautje van @MinPres en @WBHoekstra aan Zuid-Europa.

Observations:

1. The actors that are supposed to safeguard the human rights on the European side are not allowed into the border zones at all in Polen, and only some parts on Lithuanian borders. ⤵ (2/6)
