We have agreed with 🇺🇸 to pause our steel & aluminium (232) trade dispute and launch cooperation on a Global Arrangement on Sustainable Steel & Aluminium.
Our agreement will be announced by @vonderleyen and @POTUS tomorrow.

De rechtsstaat aan de afgrond in Polen en wat doen de lidstaten? Pappen en nathouden, zoals altijd. Maar een beetje onafhankelijke rechtspraak, een stukje rechtsstaat, bestaat niet.

Clear commitments are not enough anymore I’m afraid, pres. @vonderleyen We need full restoration of independent judiciary. This is not a controversial disciplinary chamber, it is an illegal court and the 🇵🇱 government already said they will abolish it. So no bargaining ⤵️ (1/2)

#Taiwan verdient onze steun, als zeldzame democratie in Azië. Juist nu druk van China toeneemt om het land over te nemen.
Goed om dat te mogen bespreken met Taiwanese minister Joseph Wu van Buitenlandse Zaken, bij zijn bezoek gisteren aan Brussel.

Ik word als theoloog zo moe van dit geleuter. In Christus 'is geen sprake van Jood of Griek, van slaaf of vrije, van mannelijk en vrouwelijk' (brief aan de Galaten, 3: 28). Oftewel: het Evangelie (grieks: goede nieuws) is voor eenieder, ongeacht ras, kleur, nationaliteit. (1/2)

The @Europarl_EN's legal service just submitted the lawsuit against the European Commission for failure to apply the rule of law mechanism to the Court of Justice.

Er moet iets gebeuren om de stijgende coronacijfers te stoppen. Maar wat? @TvanGroningen legt uit waarom het kabinet maar niet kan beslissen. En er hangt nog een ander besluit in de lucht: moet er een derde prik komen? Als het aan @PfizerNL-directeur Marc Kaptein ligt wel. #Op1

One way to undermine the rule of law is to overburden the law with challenges that are primarily political. One EU institution suing another one will not strengthen the authority of either of them & will further erode people’s confidence in law. Not a wise move imho 👇

Polish parliament just approved a law that would ban prides and public gatherings on #LHBTIQ+ rights throughout #Poland. A committee is now going to look at whether it is legally possible to implement this. Incredibly worrying and a sad day for the 🏳️🌈community. (1/2)

Ontzettend zorgwekkend en een zwarte dag voor de 🏳️🌈gemeenschap. Ik sta zij aan zij met alle dappere Poolse LHBTI'ers en activisten die dag in dag uit moeten strijden voor hun mensenrechten. Maar we geven niet op! Laat ook van je horen en steun de Poolse 🏳️🌈gemeenschap. (2/2)

BREAK! Zojuist heeft het Poolse parlement ingestemd met een wet die prides en publieke bijeenkomsten over #LHBTI+ rechten zou verbieden in heel #Polen. Een commissie gaat nu kijken of het wettelijk mogelijk is om dit door te voeren. (1/2)
