I asked her why Sweden changed its target from 100% "#renewable" to 100% fossil-free, providing space for investment in #nuclear energy.

Impressive presentation by the Minister for Energy, Business and Industry of Sweden Ms Ebba Busch. Very clear and straightforward answers in the Industry and Energy Committee in the EP.

And a good conversation about the advantages of nuclear energy in the energy mix afterwards.

Re-open the nuclear energy in #Germany and #Belgium. Finish the maintenance of the reactors in #France immediately.
And re-open the gas production in the #Netherlands.

The #EU wants to "reduce energy demand". But the problem is a lack of #energy supply. High energy prices cause skyrocketing inflation & a loss of competitiveness for European businesses. We have to start using all of our fossil and nuclear capacity!

The German parliament decides to keep nuclear power plants open for 3,5 more months.

Justified but way too short. Stopping in April 2023 is irresponsible, considering a very difficult winter that is to be expected in 2023/2024.

You can have affordable and reliable #energy: fossil, nuclear.

You can have woke energy: solar, wind.

And you can boycott Russia.

But you can only have two out of these three. Now, the #EU disregards the most important of all: reliable energy. Time to renounce green ideology!

We need to produce more reliable energy!

In the short term, we need to extract more oil and #gas ourselves and build many more #nuclear power plants in the long term. Europe has the knowledge and the resources.

We should actually strengthen the industry within Europe but it seems Macron is not good enough at making friends.

And we expect from Member States to do their utmost to maintain or increase domestic energy production. You cannot demand solidarity from your neighbors but close down modern and safe nuclear power plants at home. Solidarity and responsibility need to go hand in hand.

Flatten the curve?! The ill-considered energy transition should be reconsidered. The only thing we need is common sense. More reliable energy sources. The @EU_Commission is still countering nuclear energy. #RePowerEU, with even more renewables, is definitely not a solution.

Most of your tweets are correct but that without this delegated act there would be no taxonomy is really nonsense. The taxonomy is well functioning as we speak. Indeed, wishes to extend with nuclear and gas are there, but Commission would have accepted our veto.

So thanks to Brexit, a 🇩🇪🇫🇷 compromise had to be struck. That meant gas was added to the #taxonomy.

Only after that compromise was struck did the Commission put forward the proposal, in the last hours of 2021 on New Years Eve

Remove the compromise, and there's no taxonomy list

In addition to renewable energy, investments in nuclear energy and (non-Russian) gas as a stepping stone to hydrogen will be needed in the coming years - It's encouraging to see that a majority of the EP sees this and rejects the opposition to the proposed #Taxonomy

Really dissapointed with the Parliament's vote on taxonomy today.

Greenwashing nuclear power and gas is not the right way forward. Let's hope financial insititutions have more common sense.

Stopping nuclear energy was a huge mistake by Germany. But the biggest blunder is that they just continue - despite the energy crisis - with closing the last nuclear plants. They should reopen all of them as soon as possible.

+1Cross-party coalition speaks out against gas and nuclear in the EU #taxonomy. It's an unscientific, undemocratic and unfair decision by the @EU_Commission. And that's why the European Parliament will block it!

We have to invest in research into Generation IV nuclear energy, such as molten-salt reactors.

This investment is possible. But the #EU lacks political will to do it.

The price will be paid by our citizens.

Renewable energy made us this dependent.

To reduce this dependency in the short run, we need to use everything we have. In the long run, we have to invest in clean nuclear power.

Russian aggression against Ukraine should be condemned. But we should ask ourselves: are the energy sanctions actually hurting Russia, or are we shooting ourselves in the foot? There is evidence for the latter conclusion...

Affordable energy is necessary for everything we do in life. The EU's #RePowerEU agenda does nothing to solve the problem - it makes it worse.

We should let go of renewable targets. For now, we should use all of our fossil and nuclear capacity to ensure energy delivery...

If energy prices continue to skyrocket, a major recession and a big loss of purchasing power could follow.

Our priority should always be to ensure the availability of reliable and affordable energy for our citizens.

But instead, the #EU is going all-in on unreliable renewables.
