Seeing the reception of Ukrainian refugees gives me pride as a European; and I believe this goes for many in Europe. Let’s also open our arms to Russians fleeing Putin’s repression which has been ramped up recently. Let’s show what Europe at its best can be.

Please ensure the triggering of the Temporary Protection Directive for all people fleeing Ukraine, and limit the visa-restrictions to Putin's enablers and high officials, not to Russia's citizens. They also need our support.

I am under no illusions. Sanctions do not stop Putin’s bombs, tanks & paratroopers. The 🇺🇦 people need military support. They need air defence systems and ammunition. Immediately. We should not be shy to use the European Peace Facility. Today Ukraine is defending us. (5/x)

We need full isolation of Russia including a full trade ban. Cut Russia off from SWIFT now! Hit Putin’s entire corrupt system. And yes, that will create discomfort and cause problems for ourselves. Freedom is not free. But united we are strong. We’ll stand in solidarity. (4/x)
