The initiative will help SMEs by revising existing EU payment rules based on available and upcoming evidence to promote a definitive shift towards a culture of ‘prompt payment’.

The newest climate scam is called #ESG.

Sri Lanka had a near-perfect score of 98.1 on indicator E.

Now, their people suffer from food shortages and power outages.

ESG could destroy our #SMEs, our economy and our democracy.

The #EU should not use it in its industry strategy!

Any duty of care will affect SMEs, whether or not they are directly in scope. I propose support measures and changes to contracts to prevent companies passing on the burden to small suppliers. High-risk and listed SMEs should be brought into scope, as MEPs agreed last year.

Companies should take responsibility for the climate now, not in a few years. Climate due diligence is vital, and business leaders and shareholders should implement 'Paris-proof' transition plans.

The EU must redirect large unexpected profits from energy companies to support households and SMEs in all Member States #PoweredByUnity

in reply to avatar

Esther de Lange (CDA) Wed 5 Oct 2022, 13:44

High energy prices need to be tackled by all member states and the EU to help citizens, in particular the most vulnerable ones. To organize this much needed winter of solidarity we need to be #PoweredByUnity. Some ⁦@EPPGroup⁩ ⁦@EPP⁩ proposals: poweredbyunity.epp.eu

Vote on Social Climate Fund is easier. Important that SMEs remain excluded. Final vote not taken to allow alignment with ETS. On CBAM no vote take, since we have the same issue on free allowances there. So ETS, Social Climate Fund and CBAM back to the ENVI committee.

With a low interest rate environment, individuals and businesses seek alternatives for return on investment. #ELTIF provides the opportunity to #invest in long-term projects, such as infrastructure, real estate and #SMEs. Proud to be rapporteur for this file! #JA21

📢 SMEs say it loud and clear - a full 75% (!!) find tracking-based ads too invasive. But without alternatives to privacy-invading Google and Facebook, SMEs rely on politicians to set the rules.

Great research by @YouGov @AmnestyEU and @Global_Witness

Why do we need measures benefitting SMEs? There is no equal playing field between SMEs and MNEs, as SMEs have a significant higher tax burden, unequal access to financing and greater compliance costs. Therefore we need better and simpler tax measures for SMEs.

Paul Tang (PvdA) Mon 6 Dec 2021, 17:22

Why should we introduce a common approach on R&D tax incentives? Too often patent boxes create little economic growth, while at the same time distorting the single market. A common approach would strengthen the EU economy and remove harmful tax regimes.

In the report, the EP calls upon the Commission to:
✔ Include tax standards in national procurement criteria
✔ Introduce a common approach on tax incentives for R&D
✔ Equalize the level playing field between SMEs and MNEs

The EP voted in favour of @MarkusFerber’s report on national tax reforms. A vote for more tax coordination, harmonisation and transparency to end aggressive tax planning and harmful tax regimes within the EU. @EP_Economics @EP_Taxation 👇

This is what delivering results looks like: today the Slovenian Presidency and the European Parliament's President signed our new law on Non-Performing Loans, delivering on improved consumer protection and helping Europe's SMEs.

👏🏼 My opinion on the SME strategy was adopted by @EP_SingleMarket today! Good that we are sending a strong signal to the @EU_Commission to take action and support our #SMEs, especially those that are still trying to recover from the Covid-19 crisis

Liesje Schreinemacher Thu 3 Sep 2020, 17:04

This week the @EP_SingleMarket committee discussed the opinion I wrote on the #SME strategy. After being severely affected by the #Covid19-crisis SMEs need our full support! Let’s work on reducing red tape, late payments and simplified public procurement processes #SingleMarket

We should also pay close attention to the potential of #artificialintelligence for SMEs. Small businesses are often unaware of the options & how AI could benefit them. I propose we partner up #SMEs and AI driven companies in a buddy system to exchange best practices 2/2

Taking part in a #TechPolicyTalk round table today on #ArtificialInteligence organised by @ForumEurope I stressed the importance of finding a balance between innovation 🦾 & trust 🤝in the technology when legislating for AI. Policy should foster rather than hinder innovation! 1/2

@Money_F_Nothing @Europarl_EN @Facebook @Google @EPinNL @PES_PSE @TheProgressives @pvdaeuropa @PvdA You really think that the introduction of personalised add improved the competitiveness of SMEs?

It did certainly 'improve' the monopoly power of Google and Facebook on the advertisement market

Today I called for fair competition in our new partnership with #UK. Getting rid of a level playing field would be a great mistake. We need clear guarantees for #EU businesses, incl. SMEs @Europarl_EN

@DonaldKreiken @voorzittermkbnl @MKBNL Eens!
