Vanavond bij @deafspraaktv met oa Belgisch vicepremier @alexanderdecroo en journalist @ErnestoRodrigA de laatste ontwikkelingen in #Venezuela besproken. Voor Venezuela en de stabiliteit in de regio van groot belang dat humanitaire hulp zo snel mogelijk wordt toegelaten.

Deze week maar liefst 3 avonden GLB onderhandelingen! Mijn inzet vanavond: beoordeel het resultaat van boeren op gebied van vergroening, in plaats van vast te houden aan starre vergroeningsmaatregelen vanuit Brussel. Het doel is leidend, niet de maatregelen zelf.

Yes, it is on the EU list of terrorist organizations and should stay on it as long as it doesn't lay down arms. However, it is also necessary to restart a settlement process with the PKK, exactly like the Turkish government did a couple of years ago. #EPTurkey

EU must ensure that in all dialogues with Turkey, the topic of jailed MPs, including Demirtas, is part of the conversation. Would also be good if EU Commissioner for Human Rights would request a visit. I hope he'll be set free soon, just as the other MPs. #EPTurkey

I certainly hope so! Only couple of criteria left to be fulfilled by Turkish government for this to become a reality - but not much work has been done on that during last months. The anti-terror law in Turkey is much too broadly defined. #EPTurkey

Women are often first victims of authoritarian policies. Time male leaders in Turkey (but also in Hungary!) start respecting them as full citizens and potential voters, rather than only mothers and housewives. #EPTurkey

Every candidate country needs to fulfil criteria before it can become a member of the EU. I do agree that lots of people in Turkey share those same values! So it's important to keep negaging, invest in exchange programs, etc. #EPTurkey

Yes - the report passed w/ 47+, 7- and 10 abstentions. I received Demirtas’ letter yesterday. In the case of Leyla Guven, it is highly regrettable that elected MPs need to resort to such ultimate means to draw attention to their plight. #EPTurkey

The EP represents EU voters - we take positions on important topics, such as Turkey's accession process. My expectation is that in two weeks a large majority of the EP will vote for the suspension of accession talks w/ Turkey, as EP Foreign Affairs cttee did today. #EPTurkey
