Advies van de vakvereniging geschiedenisleraren sprak mij wel aan. Met 400.000 Turkse Nederlanders, vind ik het een goed idee om op scholen ook aandacht te geven aan de geschiedenis van Turkije. #EPTurkey

Ik lach me dubbel een groot aantal reacties gaat over de Armeense isseu.
Het is inmiddels een politiek druk middel geworden.
In de 1e WO streed #Turkije tegen de Engelsen en de Australiërs.
Beide landen hebben de Armeense claim niet erkend. #EPTurkey twitter.com/else4weekblad/…

The Commission will present its Turkey report on 29 May. So far, they have not taken the position of asking for formal suspension. In the Council there seems to be also no willingness so far to take that step. #EPTurkey

No, EU did not do all that was agreed. My biggest criticism is that we never kept the promise for large scale resettlement of Syrian refugees from Turkey #EPTurkey

As far as the European Parliament is concerned, these violations need to have serious political consequences. That’s why today the EP Foreign Affairs Cttee voted for the formal suspension of the accession talks. #EPTurkey

There has been serious allegations about violation of articles 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, and 14; articles 1 and 2 of protocol 1; and article 2 of protocol 4 of ECHR in Turkey. How long will the EU (and ECtHR) keep brushing such allegations under the rug?

The SoE commission’s mandate is very narrow, lacks independence and doesn’t provide possibility for person concerned to be heard. In addition, very low rate (7%) of favourable outcomes for applicants. Council of Europe should push harder on this! #EPTurkey

@KatiPiri #EPTurkey do you think that SoE Commission is really a domestic remedy or a regime trap to delay seeking justice? if trap do you offer any alternatives to avoid socially dying? is the justice coming afterlife is a justice? pls don't tell me what EU or ECtHR is, I know.

A return to democratic reforms - which are much needed in Turkey. Respect for independence of judiciary, press freedom and human rights. I think that’s also what many Turkish citizens expect from their government. #EPTurkey

The judiciary in Turkey has become a total joke. Arresting people without an indictment, and after 16 months in jail accuse people like Osman Kavala of ‘attempting to destroy the Republic of Turkey’ is total madness. #EPTurkey

In de EU is het gebruik van vele neonicotinoïdes als gewasbeschermingsmiddel verboden. Tegelijk wordt het maximaal toegestane restgehalte van deze middelen in bijv geïmporteerde producten verhoogd. Hoe kan je dit aan onze eigen boeren uitleggen? Hier ben ik dan ook fel op tegen!

@EKnuyt Onzin. Gevangen vis past binnen toegewezen quotum. Geen sprake van intensivering.
Door verdwijnen pulstechniek terug naar oude techniek, meer diesel en bodembeschadiging. Verbod is stap terug ipv vooruit!

Vanuit Verre Oosten contact met Midden-Oosten. Hoor dat in Gaza na moskeegebed bussen klaarstaan om jongeren naar protesten te transporteren. Armste families laten onder dwang kinderen gaan. Tegen een maaltijd en vergoeding. Voor gewonden betaalt Hamas 50 euro/voor doden 180.

Minister @hugodejonge: “Het aantal mensen met dementie zal in 2040 zijn verdubbeld. Dementie is hard op weg om volksziekte nummer één te worden. Daarom moeten we meer investeren in kennis en onderzoek“.
