A paper reality doesn’t protect people- high time for the EU to ensure that autocratic regimes start to respect democratic rights.

It should be simple: no access to EU-budget if rule of law is violated. The law to enforce is in place, now the @EU_Commission should finally act.

Goed nieuws! Het Europees Parlement heeft voor het amendement voor een #TRIPSwaiver gestemd. Door de licenties vrij te geven kunnen meer vaccins geproduceerd worden en kunnen we de pandemie wereldwijd sneller aanpakken.

Today, the @Europarl_EN voted on the WTO #TRIPS resolution. I negotiated the joint motion on behalf of @RenewEurope. We send a clear signal: to end the pandemic, the world needs an inclusive approach to vaccines. Making more vaccines available globally is the common goal.

PiS and Orbán have been given years to dismantle democracy and the rule of law in their countries. Every day that passes without the @EU_Commission intervening is one more death blow. This is failure to act, and the European Parliament should sue the Commission over it.

De tijd is op. In Hongarije en Polen is de democratie de nek omgedraaid. Tegelijkertijd ontvangen ze bakken EU-subsidies. De Europese Commissie weigert deze landen te korten. De wet uit te voeren. Daarom moet het Europees Parlement de Commissie voor de rechter slepen.

Wat echt helpt is het aanpakken van de uitzendsector, met een vergunningsplicht. En met normale huurcontracten voor arbeidsmigranten.­
Uitzendbazen­ moeten verantwoordelijkheid dragen voor de mensen die zij hierheen halen: stop met dit sprinkhanengedrag.

▪ Install legally binding restoration targets;
▪ Plant 3 billion trees in the EU before 2030;
