Het toestel van @Ryanair is boven Belarus door de autoriteiten (geheime dienst aan boord gegaan in ATH) gedwongen te landen. Belarus heeft levens van passagiers en crew in gevaar gebracht om kritische journalist te kunnen arresteren. Volstrekt onacceptabel in elk opzicht. (1/2)

Unprecedented, totally unacceptable action by Belarus authorities. This looks like an airplane hijacking under the direct responsibility of Belarus authorities with the aim of silencing a critical journalist, endangering a civil airplane. #standwithbelarus #freepress (1/2)

What we know so far: KGB operatives boarded the plane in Athens this morning together with Roman Protasevich (he noticed dodgy-looking ppl taking pics of him at the gate). Then when the plane has entered Belarus airspace KGB officers initiated a fight with the Ryanair crew (1/2)

+1Vandaag is de daadwerkelijke uitreiking van de Sacharovprijs aan Svetlana Tichanovskaja, namens de opstand tegen het onrechtmatige Loekasjenko-regime in Belarus. Een bevreemdend lege zaal dit jaar, maar desalniettemin een indringende herinnering aan de moed van de Belarussen .

Bijzonder terechte eer voor de democratische oppositie in Belarus. De Sacharovprijs komt hun meer dan toe. Deze dappere mensen voeren een gevecht voor vrijheid en democratie in Europa. Een gevecht waar wij ons binnen de EU niet aan kunnen onttrekken.

Yesterday security forces in #Belarus cruelly beat Raman Bandarenka to death.
My deepest condolences to his loved ones. As Lukashenko regime will never deliver justice, EU must extend sanctions & hold all responsible for his death to account.
