Respect voor de rechtsstaat moet daarom een voorwaarde zijn bij de verdeling van herstelfondsen en in de meerjarenbegroting.

+1For years, the @EU_Commission procrastinated with the EU Fund for #HumanRights & #RuleOfLaw #Litigation. A recent study ordered by the Commission now confirms: this is much needed & feasible. So, no more excuses please, when will the Commission finally set up the Fund?👇

Nu debat over voortgang van de artikel 7-procedures. Laatste #ruleoflaw ontwikkelingen in Polen & Hongarije stellen absoluut niet gerust. Het is tijd voor meer actie: de EU-landen moeten al hun juridische en financiële middelen in werking stellen om de rechtsstaat te beschermen.

@EU_Commission @EU_Justice @TimmermansEU 4/4 The @Europarl_EN already made its choice, it adopted my proposal for a comprehensive #ruleoflaw monitoring mechanism already in 2016. It would independently monitor all member states, every year. It can start as from today, what are you waiting for @EU_Commission?

But we need to move from ad hoc action to structural monitoring now. Not another round of debates on "potential avenues for future action". When they go low, we go slow?

Of course the @EUCouncil should have a thorough process on the #ruleoflaw in #Hungary. So did the EP before it voted my #art7 procedure, but Council should keep in mind that the Treaty knows no hierarchy on which institution starts the process, EC op EP. 1/2
